Amazon’s Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) Lab has introduced a new advanced AI system called Nova Act, designed to surpass existing AI models in handling complex web-based tasks and interactions.
Developed in San Francisco, Nova Act is positioned as a direct competitor to AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic, but with a specific focus on creating autonomous AI agents capable of performing online actions with minimal human input. This could include activities like browsing websites, making purchases, scheduling appointments, and even managing digital workflows.
Amazon’s AI research team, led by David Luan, has emphasized that one of the biggest challenges in AI development is decision-making and reliability. To address this, they have implemented advanced reinforcement learning techniques and integrated robotics insights into Nova Act’s training process.
To encourage wider adoption, Amazon has also launched an SDK (Software Development Kit) that allows developers to build custom AI agents using Nova Act’s framework. This move signals Amazon’s commitment to pushing AI beyond simple chatbots and into a future where AI can handle real-world tasks independently.
